Head of Department: Mr Brown (firstname.lastname@example.org)
The Business and Economics Department endeavours to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes in students to enable them to develop an understanding of the economic, social and political systems and how these influence local, regional, national and international business behaviour, as well as an understanding of how the main types of business and commercial institutions are organised, financed and operated and how their relationships with other organisations, consumers, owners and society are regulated.
Students will develop skills, knowledge and a broad understanding of business, with the opportunity to apply learning in a practical and realistic way. They will follow a programme of study that enables progression to both higher education and employment within business, developing key skills that are highly valued by employers and universities while gaining confidence through developing independent learning skills.
At Key Stage 4 the level 2 qualification in Business Studies is a nationally recognised work related qualification designed to provide students with a choice of routes into further education or employment.
By choosing this course students will gain an understanding of business, investigate the part people play in business, develop skills which are highly valued by employers and further education and gain confidence by developing independent learning skills.
At Key Stage 5 we offer students the chance to study A Level Business Studies, Economics and Law.
We also offer a Level 3 BTEC in Business Studies or the chance to study for a Diploma in Financial Studies.
