In the Department of Modern Foreign Languages we use the Key Stage 3 French course Allez!. Details can be found at the following link: Allez!
In Year 7 most students study French initially in mixed ability groups for four lessons a week and after Christmas the most able students in the year group will also start to learn German. These students will have two lessons of each language per week.
The remaining students in the year group will continue to study French for three lessons a week during Years 7, 8 and 9. At the end of Year 9, students will opt to continue studying either one language or two lmaguages (for top sets) to GCSE.

At Key Stage 4 all students follow the AQA GCSE specification for Modern Languages. Learners are able to study French, German or both languages to GCSE level.
For both French and German, we use AQA-approved textbooks and a range of additional materials in order to provide all our students with excellent language learning opportunities.
Student will be assesses in the four traditional skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing – at the end of Year 11.

In Key Stage 5 we offer students the opportunity to study French or German A Level. As part of the course, students study a range of aspects of French or German culture (ranging from current social issues and trends such as family life and changes in family structures, to the study of artistic culture as reflected for example, in film, literature, architecture and festivals)
Students study A Level Languages using the AQA specification and a range of additional related online and paper-based resources. In addition, students access a wide range of authentic resources drawn from national newspapers, websites and French or German media as appropriate.
