Year 7 Athletics Champs

A team of Year 7 athletes from Carlton le Willows have come out as champions after winning the Gedling Sportshall Athletics Championships.
The Year 7 girls team finished comfortably in top spot, six points clear of second place (Arnold Hill), at the event in January, while the boys’ team finished third – just one point off second place.
The winning girls’ team went on to represent Gedling in the Nottinghamshire School Games in February, finishing third overall in the county.
Carlton le Willows fielded one boys' team and one girls' team in the Sportshall Athletics, hosted by the Academy and which involved a number of local secondary schools.
Teams were selected from a series of five lessons, which focused on the running, jumping and throwing events of Sportshall Athletics.
Miss Jones said: “ The students worked hard in the School Games and produced some fantastic results finishing third overall in the county. I look forward to building on this success in Year 8. Thank you girls for a wonderful day out, I hope you are proud of yourselves.”
Team: Ava Casterton, Tilly Mullen, Ruby Holler, Ruby Simmonds, Olivia Ruddick, Morgan Upton, Eva Hoffman and Mae Reed.
A particular mention must go to Phoebe Howard who was selected as a reserve. She attended all training sessions and gave up her own time to support the team on 20th January.
