GCSE Results 2021
WAITING is finally over for Year 11 students at Carlton le Willows Academy, who have received their GCSE results after the cancellation of exams this summer.
Students have worked extremely hard to overcome the disruption caused by lost teaching time, with results today seeing 84% of students receive five or more GCSEs at Grade 4 and above.
Among the Academy’s top performing students, two Year 11s collected a clean sweep of 9s – the highest grade possible. Sarah Rutherford and Joseph Fletcher will both now go on to study A levels at Carlton le Willows Sixth Form.
Headteacher Craig Weaver said: “I am always so proud of our students on results day, which marks the culmination of two years hard work and commitment, Unfortunately, the class of 2021 have had to tackle even more challenges than usual but they have faced the past year with gritty determination and a strong resolve not to let the pandemic defeat them.
“Today’s results are absolutely well deserved, They prove just how strong these students are and what bright futures they undoubtedly have ahead of them.”
