Nothing but the best

Students pitch to TV star

GOGGLEBOX star Baasit Siddiqui joined Year 10 students at Carlton le Willows for an inspiring workshop developing a pitch for a TV show.

The East Midlands based TV star worked with the students helping them create and promote an idea for a television show concept as part of a nationwide competition being run by his company Siddiqui Education.

Said Baasit: “The Let’s Pitch It workshop is based on my experience on TV but coupled with my experience having taught for 10 years. It is not so much about winning the competition but getting students to recognise all the skills they are developing – such as teamworking, compromise, communication, creativity, planning and presenting.”

Baasit, whose company Siddiqui Education works nationwide, visited the Academy thanks to the schools links with the Ambition programme run by the University of Nottingham.

He added: “This is my first visit to Carlton le Willows and I am very impressed, The students are so polite, This group have worked hard, really putting the effort in. They’ve done their school proud today.”
