Table tennis victory

CARLTON le Willows’ table tennis players swept their way to victory against county opposition in a recent schools' table tennis tournament.
The Academy’s Under 16 boys team won all qualifying rounds in the English School Table Tennis Association’s Nottinghamshire county round in October, earning themselves a place in the final – which they won 8-0.
Hosted at Carlton le Willows’ state-of-the-art table tennis centre, the event saw schools from across Nottinghamshire competing in Under 13s and Under 16s categories for both boys and girls.
Twenty-five teams competed in total, with players from Arnold Hill, Ashfield School, East Leake, Outwood Academy, Redhill Academy, Selston High School, Rushcliffe Spencer and Toot Hill Academies all taking part.
The Under 13 boys team from Carlton le Willows put on a great display, this being their first schools competition. They drew 3-3 with Rushcliffe, beat Selston 6-0 but lost out to Toot Hill Academy who went on to be group winners.
Carlton le Willows’ under 19 boys team qualified by default as the only school in the county to have a team. Both they and the Under 16s will now go through to the next round of the competition, which will be hosted at Carlton le Willows in February.
