Prize for careers education at CLW
Interview practice for a whole school year group at Carlton le Willows has been recognised in a national competition showcasing quality careers education in action.
The Interview Skills Day for Year 10 students at the Academy won second prize in the secondary section of the National Careers Week (NCW) Case Study Competition 2018.
Said Dr Farheen Khan, Head of Careers and Employability at the Academy: “It is wonderful for Carlton le Willows to be recognised for the Interview Skills Day that we ran this year. This event is the culmination of many months of planning and preparation by the school and by Gedling Borough Council.
“Teachers help students to prepare CVs and then prepare for interviews, and Gedling Borough Council work with local employers to ensure that they can offer constructive feedback to our students. The day itself is a wonderful experience for all involved and embeds our school into the heart of our community.”
Winning case studies, judged on a range of issues including originality, reach and inclusivity of students, parents and community, as well as how well the event met the needs of individual students, will be collated for use by all schools next year.
