Medals for Academy athletes

Athletes from Carlton le Willows put on a medal-winning display at Gedling Partnership Athletics Championships – with 17 students bagging awards and one student breaking a Gedling record.
Year 9 Skye Fawsitt broke the record for Junior Girls Discus by throwing 20.40 metres - beating the existing record by a staggering 96cm - as she took first place in the discus and also a medal in 100m Junior Girls.
Other Academy students took medals in shotput, high jump, long jump, 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m and hurdles for Junior Girls; triple jump, 100m, 800m and hurdles for Junior Boys (Years 8 and 9) and 200m, 800m, and 1,500m for Inter Boys (Years 10 and 11).
All the students placed first and second in their events during the day-long competition at Harvey Hadden, will now go through to represent Gedling in the Nottinghamshire Athletics Championships on 9th June.
