Emma Goddard

Footballer Emma Goddard has experienced considerable success on the football pitch and now has her sights set on a soccer scholarship in the USA.

Year 13 Emma was selected for Derby County’s regional talent centre U15 squad two years ago, making her way into the U17s and now the U18s squad. The team won the League cup last year and are so far unbeaten this season with Emma as their captain.

As well as playing for Derby, Emma also trialled for the county squad Nottinghamshire Schools U16s. In her first season they became regional champions and the following season Emma captained them to become Midlands County Cup Champions.

The 17-year-old has also signed for Long Eaton Ladies reserves in the Women’s National Division 2 Southern League. She is now a regular in the first team squad and commits to training three times a week and playing both days of the weekend, intent on gaining a soccer scholarship abroad.

Emma was awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Sport Award at Carlton le Willows SPOTY awards 2018, in recognition of her commitment to school football – having played for the Academy football team every year from Year 7 and leading the Year 9 and 10 teams to cup final victories.
